There’s something about Sundays

January 8, 2013

We have always eaten together as a family on Sundays. But now of course we are rarely all together and most often it is just his nibs and me. But still we roast.
But what a joy it is to be invited round to help another family eat Sunday dinner! And even better when greeted with a glass of champagne. Or five. Roaring fire, lots of relaxed chat. Grown children in and out. Adults nattering, nibbling and necking it down (the last one was just me).
And then the world’s largest portions of fantastic home-cooked food. And seconds. Once a stomach expands it needs more to fill it. And then on to two puddings. Dilemmas. The pannetone bread and butter pudding or the blackberry and apple crumble? Oh go on then, I’ll have both. And glorious they were too.
Perfect mix of friends, family and food. how lucky we are.
Except today I had to go to the gym to pay for those puddings. Think I’m going to need three or four visits to shift them.
When will they invent home liposuction………….
