The Duke of Kent.

January 1, 2013

Husband had a meeting during the day at this local pub and was impressed by the internal refurb so booked us in for an evening meal.
What a pleasant surprise – it looks so much better. Funkier, cooler, warmer and altogether a more hip n happening place. It used to have stark rows of oblong tables more like refectory dining than informal pub eating. Now it has a huge chalkboard covering one wall, zebra print cinema seats, settees, chandeliers made from wine glasses and lots of grey paint. Good job.
The menu is split in to restaurant and bar. And as ever, I wanted to sit in the bar but eat restaurant food and they obliged. Service was pleasant but young and slow – presumably finding their feet and the food was good pub grub. Better than The Drayton, better than the North Star. Definitely worth the stroll there and back. And we will be back.
